There are plenty of shops selling African fabrics and prints scattered around the city centre of Cape Town - but if you are looking for something of quality and a little special then it is worth the time to take a trip out to Observatoy to visit Mnandi Textiles and Design.  Can be difficult to find on your first trip but certainly worth the visit when you get there.  Whether you are looking for small pieces for patchwork, or material to make an outfit they have a broad selection of quality African fabrics.  If you have time they have in-house tailors to design and make your outfit.

Mnandi Textiles and Design tel 021 447 6847, 90 Station road, Observatory Mon-Fri 9am -5.30pm & Saturday 9am -2pm

Observatory is an interesting suburb in itself with cute bars, cafes, and shops.  You can combine with a visit to close by Woodstock and on a Saturday with a visit to the food lovers market at the Old Biscuit Mill.
