After collection from your hotel we will drive around 45 minutes towards Somerset West and visit one of most historical vineyards, Vergelegen.  Owned by Anglo-American, who have invested a fortune into the restoration of the Manor House and gardens.

After a short walk through the gardens we will enter the Manor House which gives us an idea how the wealthy lived in the early twentieth century and then visit the largest Camphor trees in the Southern hemisphere which are over three hundred years old.

We will now make our way to the second oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch which offers numerous heritage buildings with Cape Dutch architecture.  Find out where Jan Smuts lived while studying at Stellenbosch University.

Visit to the Village Museum which showcases four original homes which show how the lifestyle developed from pioneer to the Victorian era.

For art lovers we will make a short visit to The Rupert museum.  This the private collection of the late Anton Rupert and features work from Pierneef, Irma Stern and Anton van Wouw.

Next we will take the scenic mountain pass to Franschhoek, established by 150 French Huguenots in the late 1600s.  Their story is told well by the Huguenot Memorial and museum.

For lunch I suggest we either book one of the vineyards with spectacular views or soak up the historical towns of Stellenbosch or Franschhoek by dining in one of their street cafes.
